"A total of 12,779 model 968 cars were built. During the production years, 2,417 coupes, model years 1992-1995, were sold in the US. Mine is a '93 black/black coupe which I purchased used in 1996, now with 72,000 miles.
This car has the Sport Chassis option, originally to be designated P30 and available on 1992 models, but actually delayed until the 1993 model year and then called the M30 option. The option includes bigger stabilizer bars, bigger cross-drilled brake discs, adjustable shocks, and 17" wheels. A further option is the limited slip differential. It is essentially track ready.
The engine represents a further development of what had been the 944 S2 engine: 3.0 liter, 4-cylinder, 16 valve, developing 236 HP and 225 ft-lbs of torque.
I love the car. I have frequently run it on race circuits in the US and Canada in DE events sponsored by PCA and trackmasters. It is comfortable for lengthy road trips; it has run in rallies; and it has even done well in the occasional concours. Right now, it is stored for the winter, never having seen a snow flake." - Dick
